What we need to know before preparing the sign submission
The business logo is only one part of sign approval.

- illumination and separate electrical/ESA requirements where applicable

Sign permit and building permit should not be confused
Toronto, for example, has distinct first-party and third-party sign permit streams under its sign regulations. Other municipalities use their own bylaws and application processes. We prepare the physical sign drawing around the local process rather than assuming one Ontario-wide sign standard.
Common sign-permit questions
Does every storefront sign need a permit?
Requirements vary by municipality and sign type. The local sign bylaw should be checked before fabrication/installation.
Can I install the sign first and apply later?
That creates enforcement risk. Required sign approval should be obtained before installation.
Is an illuminated sign covered by the sign permit only?
Electrical installation and ESA requirements remain separate from municipal sign approval.
Can 828 Design design the sign structure?
We can coordinate permit drawings within applicable scope. Where professional structural engineering is required, the responsible licensed provider must take responsibility.
Does landlord approval replace the city permit?
No. Landlord consent and municipal sign approval are separate.
Can a sign permit be combined with the tenant-renovation permit?
They can be coordinated visually, but the municipality may process the sign through a separate application stream.
Fabricate from the approved sign information
Changes to sign size, location, illumination or mounting after approval can affect bylaw/permit compliance. The installer should use the approved information and separately satisfy electrical and site-safety responsibilities.
