What multi-discipline coordination focuses on
Depending on the project, coordination can address:
- equipment locations, mechanical rooms and service clearances
- duct, pipe and major service routes that affect ceilings, shafts or walls
- plumbing fixtures and equipment that require power or ventilation
- roof/wall/floor penetrations that affect structural and envelope drawings

Why HVAC, plumbing and MEP are separate services on the site
A client needing only a plumbing permit drawing has a different search intent and scope from a restaurant or clinic requiring several technical systems to be coordinated together. The dedicated pages explain each discipline; this page is for projects where the interfaces between disciplines are the main coordination problem.
Coordination does not erase professional boundaries
Mechanical engineering, structural engineering, electrical engineering, ESA notification/inspection, fire-protection design and other regulated responsibilities remain with the provider legally responsible for that work. 828 Design can manage drawing interfaces and permit-document consistency without claiming those separate professional roles.
Typical projects that benefit from MEP coordination
Restaurants, clinics, commercial tenant improvements, industrial units, additions, multi-unit residential work and renovations with dense ceiling/service zones often benefit from early coordination. Resolving conflicts on drawings is usually more efficient than discovering them during permit review or construction.
Common questions
Can I hire 828 only for HVAC and plumbing without electrical coordination?
Yes. The scope can be limited to the technical disciplines actually needed. The combined coordination page does not force every project into a full MEP package.
Who is responsible for electrical permits?
ESA notification and electrical installation responsibilities remain separate from the municipal building-permit coordination. A Licensed Electrical Contractor handles the notification for work it performs.
Can you coordinate an engineer’s drawings with your permit set?
Yes. We can integrate and cross-check the interface information, while the engineer remains responsible for their engineering design and seal.
Does MEP coordination include fire sprinklers?
Not automatically. Fire-protection design is a separate specialist scope unless specifically included by the responsible qualified provider.
Can you coordinate revisions after city comments?
Yes when included. We identify which discipline owns each comment and update the shared drawings so the resubmission remains coordinated.
Is this useful before leasing a commercial space?
It can be. Early feasibility can identify major service, ceiling-space or equipment issues before the detailed permit package is committed.
